Promoting strong bilateral economic ties and West Asia peace process will top the agenda when President Pratibha Devisingh Patil interacts with her Syrian counterpart Bashar Al Assad in Damascus. She arrived in Damascus on Friday afternoon on a four-day visit. In the first Presidential visit from India to Syria, Patil will also discuss regional and global issues of interest to both the countries. She flew from Dubai after a five-day visit to the UAE and was warmly received by Syria’s Senior Minister for Presidential Affairs Mansoor Azam.
