The President has called upon the public sector units to work as partners with the agricultural sector to boost the country's farm productivity. <br/><br/>Speaking on the occasion of public sector day celebrations in New Delhi, Mrs. Pratibha Devisingh Patil asked the PSU CEOs to take it as a challenge. <br/><br/>Mrs. Patil said initially the PSUs can partner with individual farmers as a part of their social responsibility and later as a viable business model. <br/><br/>The President asked the public sectors to focus on research and development to become globally competitive.<br/><br/>Heavy Industries and public enterprises Minister, Vilasrao Deshmukh said government is formulating comprehensive guidelines for corporate governance.<br/><br/>The President also gave away scope meritorious awards to heads of 14 PSUs including Punjab National Bank, SAIL and NTPC under different categories.
