Prez calls upon industrialists to help MSMEs growth

The President called upon the state governments and industrial leaders to synergize their efforts for the development and sustainable growth of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, MSMEs. Speaking at the National Award function of MSMEs in New Delhi on Friday, Mrs Patil said, timely availability of financial support is essential for the survival of small scale industries. She said that infrastructure, technology, product development and marketing are the critical areas needed to be addressed for their growth. Terming skill development as an essential vital resource for economic endeavours, Mrs Patil said that quality training of global standards is needed for skill development to make the country a Talent Hub. The President also called upon the Corporates sector including MSMEs to seriously engage with agriculturists and farmers to avail the opportunities of working together for mutual benefit. She said that overall prosperity of the country cannot be possible without substantial rural prosperity. Mrs Patil also gave away the National MSMEs Awards for the year 2010 to the entrepreneurs for their outstanding contribution to the growth of the sector. A total of 213 entrepreneurs were given the awards in various categories. 144 awards were presented in MSMEs sector, 45 in Khadi and Village Industry and 18 in Coir Industry. Union Minister for MSMEs Mr. Virbhadra Singh was also present on this occasion.
