President Mrs.Pratibha Devisingh Patil has called upon the youth to follow the vision of Rabindranath Tagore to achieve universal brotherhood of mankind.

Speaking at the Vishwabharati University in Shanti Niketan this morning, Mrs.Patil said that Rabindranath himself was a true internationalist.

In his work, the depth of human feelings the aspirations of a nation and oneness of the human race were all expressed through deep understanding of the wisdom of the past and expectations of the future.

The President also inaugurated an exhibition of original paintings of Rabrindranath Tagore. She said Tagore the great intellectual, strongly believed that human beings must seek the truth and must contribute to human welfare.

The President also said that Tagore also emphasised the importance of educational institutions with high standards of learning.
