President Pranab Mukherjee has asked agricultural scientists to focus more on developing climate resistant technology to overcome problems posed by climate change. Delivering the 54th convocation of Indian Agricultural Research Institute, IARI in New Delhi this afternoon, Mr Mukherjee said, scientists through their research in the fields of Bio-technology and nano technology can bring solution to the problem. He said, only through the scientific development in the filed of agriculture, India has been able to cater 18 per cent of world's population with only three per cent of water resources and 5 per cent of land. <br/><br/>The President expressed concern over the reduction of foodgrain production from 265 million tonne to 253 million tonne last year. He said, many recently launched programmes of the government like crop insurance, soil health card, per drop more crop and start up will make agriculture sector more stronger and will take it forward. Mr Mukherjee also called upon scientists to develop food grain with protein and micro nutrient as 45 per cent of children below three years are under nourished. He also stressed for the 2nd green revolution.
