President Mr. Pranab Mukherjee arrived in Mumbai today on his first visit to the city after assuming the highest office of the country. He was given a warm welcome by Maharashtra Governor K Sankaranarayanan and Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport this afternoon. The President is in Mumbai to inaugurate the 7th edition of India-Chem 2012, an international conference to promote the Indian chemical industry. The three-day event is being organised by the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, Government of India, and the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). The theme of India-Chem 2012 is “Emerging India: Sustainable Development of the Chemical Sector”.
