In Madhya Pradesh, the government asked district administrations to prevent child marriages on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya. Our correspondent reports that officials have been asked to keep a watch on mass marriage ceremonies. Thousands of marriages will be solemnized across the state on Akha Teej today. The state government has chalked out an action plan to prevent child marriages on this occasion. The government has instructed district collectors to ensure that no child marriage takes place in the areas under their jurisdiction. Anti Child Marriage Rally will also be taken out at Anganwadi centres . Cases of child marriages are declining fast in Madhya Pradesh. According to Sample Registration Survey Report 2010, Madhya Pradesh registered a decline of 87 percent in child marriage cases during last decade. Shariq Noor, AIR News, Bhopal.
