Many high altitude areas experienced heavy snowfall in both the Kumaon and the Garhwal region on Friday. Peaks in Chamoli and Uttarkashi districts of the Garhwal region have been covered with snow. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light to moderate rain and snowfall in some areas of the state till 6 February.
