Pressure mounts, on BCCI Chief to resign; Srinivasan refuses to step down

BCCI President N Srinivasan remained adamant on his stand of not resigning from his post. Mr. Srinivasan brushed aside IPL Commissioner Rajiv Shukla’s statement that he should step aside till the three-member commission finishes its probe into allegations of betting and spot-fixing during the Indian Premier League. Speaking to reporters in Mumbai, Mr. Srinivasan once again reiterated that he has already disassociated himself from the probe.
Rajiv Shukla yesterday asked BCCI President N. Srinivasan to step down untill the probe against his son-in-law in the spot fixing case is over.
Congress has demanded a fair probe in the IPL spot fixing case. Talking to reporters in New Delhi , party General Secretary Janardhan Dwivedi said that the incident has hurt the sentiments of cricket lovers in the country. He said culprits should be punished.
Union Agriculture Minister and former BCCI President Sharad Pawar said that that in order to restore the faith of cricket fans, BCCI should request the Home Ministry for an inquiry into all the 75 matches of season six.
In a related development, the Delhi Police have arrested two more persons including a friend of cricketer S.Sreesanth in New Delhi in connection with the IPL spot-fixing case. With this, 26 people have been arrested in the case by the Delhi Police so far.
