President's wife Suvra Mukherjee passes away

President Pranab Mujkherjee's wife Suvra Mukherjee passed away today in New Delhi. She breathed her last at 10.51 this morning. Suvra Mukherjee suffered a cardiac arrest on 7th of this month and was admitted to Research and Referral Army Hospital. <br/><br/>The body of First Lady Suvra Mukherjee is lying in state at the residence of her son and MP Abhijit Mukherjee at 13, Talkatora Road for paying last respects. Vice-President Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, Congress President Sonia Gandhi were among others who paid tributes to Mrs Mukherjee at the Rashtrapati Bhavan this afternoon. The cremation will take place at the Lodhi Road Crematorium at 10 tomorrow morning.<br/><br/>Mrs Mukherjee was born on 17th of September 1940 in Jessore and married to Mr Pranab Mukherjee in 1957. She was a vocalist of Rabindra Sangeet and founded the Geetanjali Troupe. She had also written two books Chokher Aloey and Chena Achenai Chin.<br/><br/>Vice President Hamid Ansari has deeply condoled the demise of Suvra Mukherjee, wife of President Pranab Mukherjee. In his message, Mr Ansari said he joins the nation in offering deepest condolence to the President and the bereaved family members. He prayed for the Almighty to grant peace to departed soul. <br/><br/>Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that he is pained to know about the passing away of Suvra Mukherjee. In a tweet, Mr Modi said, the First Lady will be remembered as a lover of art, culture and music. The Prime Minister said, Suvra's warm nature endeared her to everyone she met.<br/><br/>Congress President Sonia Gandhi has expressed sadness at the passing away of First Lady Suvra Mukherjee. In a message, Mrs Gandhi extended her condolences to President Pranab Mukherjee and other family members. She said, the entire country stood with them in this moment of bereavement.<br/><br/>West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has condoled the passing away of President Pranab Mukherjee's wife Suvra Mukherjee. Banerjee said in a post in twitter that she had known Suvra boudi for more than three decades and she was a simple, lovable and a caring housewife. Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has also condoled the demise of the first lady.
