President's rule imposed in Andhra Pradesh

President's rule has been imposed in Andhra Pradesh. The Union Cabinet on Friday had recommended imposition of the President's rule in the State on the report of Governor E S L Narasimhan.

Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy had resigned in protest against the passage of Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill to create a separate State of Telangana. The State was without a Chief Minister and no party came forward to form the government.

Meanwhile, the President has given his assent to the bill which was passed by Parliament in its just concluded session.
