President Pratibha Devisingh Patil today honoured 53 persons for their outstanding contribution in the field of Sankskrit, Arabic, Persian, Pali and Prakrit languages. In recognition of their teaching experience, published work and their efforts in keeping the tradition of these languages alive, the President gave away Certificate of Honour for the years 2010 and 2011 and Maharashi Badrayan Vyas Samman for 2011 to the Scholars.
Our Correspondent reports that Presidential Award of Certificate of Honour is announced on the eve of Independence Day every year in recognition of the outstanding contribution by various scholars of eminence over 60 years of age in the field of Sankskrit, Arabic, Persian, Pali and Prakrit. Maharashi Badrayan Vyas Samman is given to young scholars of these languages in the age group of 30 to 40 years.
