President Pranab Mukherjee has said that there is a need for another Green Revolution in the country, and the eastern parts of the country, including Bihar, will play a vital role in it .
The President has said this after unveiling the most awaited five years agriculture road map of Bihar at a function in the state capital Patna today. AIR Patna correspondent reports that President who arrived in Patna on a two day visit of Bihar, attended several functions.
AIR correspondent also reports that referring to the first green revolution, the president said due to excessive use of fertilizers the salinity of soils was affected and the water level also went down, so need of sustainable development in present situation. President complimented the state government for laying emphasis not only in agriculture but also in allied sector.
President also inaugurated a plaque of Rajendra Mandap in Rajbhawan and addressed the 4th convocation of Lalit Narayan Mithila University at Darbhanga. Earlier the President was received by Governor Devanand Kunwar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his ministerial colleagues at the Patna airport. He will have night stay at the Rajbhavan and fly out on Thursday morning.
