The President, the Vice President and the Prime Minister have greeted the people on the festival of Onam. In her message, the President Mrs. Pratibha Devisingh Patil wished the people all prosperity and happiness. The Vice President Mohammed Hamid Ansari also wished the people peace, prosperity and happiness and the nation's progress. The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh while greeting the people on this joyous occasion said that Onam which reaffirms the secular traditions of the country is an opportunity to celebrate the spirit of unity and brotherhood and to renew the commitment to an egalitarian society.
