President Ram Nath Kovind visited the Indian National Army Complex at Moirang in Bishnupur District of Manipur this morning. He paid floral tribute at the INA Memorial Site inside the complex. <br/><br/>This is the second visit of a President of the country to the INC Complex after V V Giri's visit in 1972. Manipur Governor Dr. Najma Heptulla and Chief Minister N. Biren Singh accompanied the President. Later, President Kovind also visited the INA museum which houses wartime relics, photographs and other documents related to INA.<br/><br/>On the visitors' book of the INA Museum, President Kovind wrote that he offers his humble tribute to the brave soldiers of the Army who made the supreme sacrifice to liberate India under exemplary leadership of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose. He further wrote this monument reminds people of the valour of the INA.<br/><br/>Moirang occupies a unique space in the history of the country's freedom struggle and in the Second World War as well. <br/><br/>During the Second World War, Moirang was the headquarters of the INA and Colonel Shaukat Malik of INA hoisted national flag of India for the first time on Indian soil on the 14th April 1944 liberating the historic place from British colonial rule.
