President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice President Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, J&K Chief Mehbooba Mufti and BJP leader Ram Madhav have strongly condemned the Uri terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir . In a tweet, Mr Mukherjee said, ''Heartfelt condolences to families of those bereaved in Uri terrorist attack; prayers for speedy recovery of injured''.<br/><br/>Vice-President Hamid Ansari expressed shock at the attack. He said such attacks are the result of the use of cross-border terrorism by one particular country in the region. In his message, Prime Minister Mr Modi said ''I assure the nation that those behind this despicable attack will not go unpunished.''<br/><br/>Home Minister Rajnath Singh said, "There are definite and conclusive indications that the perpetrators of Uri attack were highly trained, heavily armed and specially equipped.'' Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar also condemned the cowardly terror attack and saluted the brave martyrs for their supreme sacrifice.<br/><br/>Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju tweeted ''Deepest condolences to families of #UriAttack martyrs who sacrificed their lives for motherland. Perpetrators will be made to pay for it.'' Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti said the attack seems to be aimed at triggering fresh violence and creating a war-like situation in the region.'<br/><br/>Congress President Sonia Gandhi described the incident as "a deplorable affront on our national conscience" and expressed hope that the perpetrators of this dastardly attack will be severely dealt with and brought to book. Senior Congress leader and leader of the opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad said, we should show total solidarity to our armed forces.<br/><br/>US Ambassador to India Richard Verma said ''We strongly condemn the terror attack in Uri, J&K. Our thoughts are with the families of the brave soldiers who lost their lives.'' UK Foreign Minister Boris Johnson called up External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj saying his country stands shoulder-to-shoulder with India in its fight against terrorism.
