President, Vice President, PM congratulate for re-election of Justice Bhandari to ICJ

President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, former President Pranab Mukherjee and other prominent leaders have congratulated Justice Dalveer Bhandari for his re-election to the International Court of Justice, ICJ. <br/><br/>In a tweet, President Ram Nath Kovind said, Justice Bhandari's re-election is a diplomatic milestone for India. In a tweet, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu said, it is a joyous moment for every Indian as this win is a reflection of India's growing stature internationally.<br/><br/>Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Justice Bhandari on his re-election to the ICJ, saying it is a proud moment for the country. <br/><br/>He credited the efforts of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and MEA officials for it. Mr. Modi also expressed gratitude to members of the UN General Assembly and the UN Security Council for their support and trust in India. <br/><br/>In his message, the former President Mr Mukherjee said, this is truly a victorious moment for India. He said, the broad support Justice Bhandari received is a major diplomatic victory for the country.<br/><br/>Ministry of External Affairs said, Justice Bhandari received all 15 votes in UN Security Council and 183 out of 193 votes at UN General Assembly. <br/><br/>It said, the extraordinary support from UN membership is reflective of the respect for the strong constitutional integrity of Indian polity and the independence of the judiciary in India. <br/><br/>Justice Bhandari was re-elected to the world court after Britain withdrew its candidate from the election.
