President Pranab Mukherjee made an appeal to elected representatives to have an accountability to serve for better causes rather than resorting to disruptive practices which can hinder the growth of a healthy democracy. In his special address on the occasion of Diamond Jubilee Celebrations of the Tamil Nadu Assembly yesterday, the President appealed to the members to ponder over the need to ensure smooth functioning of the elected bodies.

Mr Mukherjee said that members do have the right to express their opinions but raised concerns on the continuation of resorting to disruption as a tool for intervention.
