The President Mrs. Pratibha Devi Singh Patil has asked the business captains of Industry in India and UAE to explore opportunities for cooperation in agriculture and food processing units. Speaking at the inaugural function of the India Trade and Exhibition Centre at Sharjah she said that the new areas need to be explore for cooperation. Noting that the agriculture is the biggest private business in India she said 40 percent of farming activity in India is dryland farming. Asking Sharjah to be the partner in the second green revolution in India the President said that the agriculture and food processing are the most important sectors for investment opportunities. In another function at Dubai organized by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce Mrs. Patil said that immense potential lies for a mutually beneficial partnership in the energy sector and also in agriculture and food processing. Our correspondent reports that her remarks on the issue of agriculture comes a day before she is set to visit an institute working in the field of arid and dry land farming during her visit to Syria beginning this morning. Turning to the trade turnover between India and the UAE which has touched a record 40 billion US dollars she said that there are complementarities in the trade relations. She asserted that there is immense opportunity to expand the volume of trade considerably in coming years.
