The President today issued notification for second and third phases of Lok Sabha elections to be held on April 9 and 10. These include ninety-three constituencies spread across 18 states. On April 9, seven constituencies in five states and on April 10, 86 constituencies in 13 states including seven in Delhi will elect members to the Lok Sabha.
Though six constituencies of Bihar are also going for poll on April 10, the notification was issued on March 13 due to certain administrative reasons. Bastar in Naxal-hit state of Chhattisgarh will also go to polls on April 10. Notification has also been issued for 60-seat Arunachal Pradesh Assembly and 70-seat Odisa Assembly elections.
With the issuance of notification, filing of nominations by the candidates has begun and they can file their papers till the 22nd of this month. The scrutiny of nominations takes place on the 24th and candidates can withdraw their names till the 26th of this month. Counting will take place on 16th May.
