The President Mrs.Pratibha Devisingh Patil will review the naval fleet in Mumbai on Tuesday. It would be the navy's 10th Presidential Fleet Review (PFR). Western Naval Command Chief, Vice-Admiral Devendra Kumar Joshi told reporters that the event would be one of the biggest, which would provide tangible evidence of the Navy's commitment.
AIR correspondent reports, the review of the fleet is undertaken once during the term by the President.
This time the Presidential Fleet Review is being hosted by the Western Naval Command. Assets of the Eastern and Southern naval commands, Andaman & Nicobar Command will be displayed during the event. As a precursor to the mega event, all the vessels have been illuminated after sunset giving a sense of township in the Arabian sea .
Mrs.Patil will sail on warship INS Subhadra to receive a salute from a flotilla of 81 ships and 44 aircraft lined up in the harbour and get a glimpse of the country's growing Naval might during the event.
The Navy will display its strength by showcasing its fleet of battleships such as the aircraft carrier INS Virat, Kilo-Class submarines, its aerial assets including the MiG-29K, helicopters and 8,000 men cheering the President.
