President Pranab Mukherjee will present Indira Gandhi National Social Services (NSS) awards for 2011-12 to 48 persons for their outstanding contribution in community services. The awards will be given at a function in Rashtrapati Bhawan tomorrow.
The awardees will be given a trophy, certificate and a silver medal besides cash ranging between 15 thousand rupees to two lakh rupees according to category.
Dr B Vasantha Shetty of the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences in Karnataka will be presented the University level award.
Under the Upcoming University category, the award is shared between Daleep Thakur of Himachal Pradesh Directorate of Higher Education and Dr Farooq Ahmad Khan of University of Kashmir.
There are 30 awardees under the Volunteers category, followed by 10 Programme Officers of NSS Units and five under Certificate of Appreciation.
