President to Participate in golden jubilee celebrations of IIT Kanpur

The President Smt. Pratibha Devi Singh Patil will be reaching this morning at Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh to inaugurate the golden jubilee celebrations of Indian Institute of Technology IIT Kanpur.<br/><br/>AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that during her visit besides delivering a lecture she will unveiled a satellite 'Jugnu' developed by the institute's students and it will be handed over to scientists of the Indian Space Research Organisation ISRO for launching from Sriharikota after proper testing. She will also inaugurate a Time Capsule containing 50 glorious years of IIT-Kanpur.<br/><br/>Massive security arrangements are in place in the Kanpur city in view of President’s visit. Additional senior police officers and security personnel from neighbouring districts have been deployed at and around IIT premises.<br/><br/>Alumni of IIT-Kanpur, settled different parts of the country and even abroad, will be joining in large numbers for the golden jubilee celebrations of the premier institute of the country.<br/><br/>The state Governor Mr. BL joshi, Union Minister of State for Coal Mr. Sriprakash Jaisawal and Health and Family welfare Minister of the state government Mr. Anant Kumar Mishra are among the dignitaries who will also be attending the function.
