President to hold bilateral talks with Namibian counterpart in Windhoek

President Pranab Mukherjee will hold bilateral talks with his Namibian counterpart Hage Geingob in Windhoek today. This will be followed by delegation level talks and signing of agreements. AIR correspondent reports that this is the first visit by an Indian President to Namibia in over two decades. <br/><br/>The President will be accorded ceremonial welcome today. He is scheduled to address the joint session of Namibian Parliament. Later, he will attend the state banquet hosted in his honour by his Namibian counterpart. <br/><br/><br/>The visit assumes significance on the backdrop of the India's efforts to switch to clean energy and Namibia being the fourth largest supplier of Uranium in the world. Indian side will also seek Namibian support in its bid for the membership of the elite Nuclear Supplier's Group. Both sides will also discuss on ways to further enhance trade and economic ties between the two countries.
