President Pranab Mukherjee today embarked on a six day three-nation tour to Ghana, Cotd'Ivory and Namibia. On the first leg of his visit, Mr Mukherjee will reach the Ghanaian capital Accra later this evening. Earlier, talking to AIR, Minister of State in PMO, Dr Jitender Singh said, the visit assumes importance as its the first tour ever by any Indian President to Ghana and Cote d'ivorie. He said, the world expects leadership role from India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the international community. Mr Singh, who is part of the delegation accompanying the President, said, India believes in inclusive approach and this visit is to take on board African nations on various issues.<br/><br/>Our correspondent covering the President's visit reports that during his stay in Accra, Mr Mukherjee will hold talks with his Ghana counterpart John Mahama on bilateral, regional and multilateral issues of mutual interest.
