President Pranab Mukherjee will confer the Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards and Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellowships for the year 2014 at Rashtrapati Bhavan today. Both the awards are recognized as the most coveted national honours bestowed on performing artists as well as teachers and scholars in the field of performing arts. Thirty six artistes from the fields of music, dance, theater and puppetry will be conferred the Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards. <br/><br/>Musicologist S R Janakiraman, filmmaker M S Sathyu, Indian classical singer Vijay Kichlu and musician Tulsidas Borkar will be given the prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi fellowships for the year 2014. The Sangeet Natak Akademi is the apex body in the country working for promotion and preservation of the performing arts of the country.
