President to address nation today

President Pratibha Patil will address the nation on the eve of the Independence Day today. The address will be broadcast over all chanels of All India Radio in Hindi followed by English version from 7 pm onwards. The address will also be telecast on Doordarshan. AIR will broadcast the regional language versions of the address over its regional channels from 8 pm onwards. The Delhi Police have made elaborate traffic arrangements around Red Fort on the occasion of Independence Day—August 15. Adressing a press Conference, Joint Commissioner of Delhi Police, traffic Satyendra Garg said only parking labled vehicles would be allowed near the Red Fort. He said the borders of Delhi would not be sealed though random checking of vehicles and individuals would be done. Garg said that goods vehicles would not be permitted between Nizamuddin bridge and Wazirabad bridge from the midnight of August 14. As a precautionary measure, the Northern Railway has decided to withhold the train services between Old Delhi to Sahadra Railway Stations between 6 AM and 8:30 am on Sunday.
