President Pratibha Devisingh Patil exhorted the Bihar legislators to help increase the feeling of brotherhood to take the state of Bihar to achieve height of development and to contribute towards the development of the country. After inaugurating the year long centenary celebration of Bihar Legislative Council at Patna on Tuesday, Mrs. Patil wanted the benefit of the developments to be extended to the grass root levels of society. President Patil said, time has come to rise above caste, creed and religion and work for the development of the country. She said that state government should implement policies for education of girls. Mrs. Patil appreciated the efforts of the Bihar government in its efforts to work together in the development of the state and the country.The President also advised the Bihar government to increase agriculture production and to develop the industry in the state. President Pratibha Devi Singh Patil today honoured the five longest serving former members of the Bihar legislative council. They are PN Sharma, Ram Nandan singh, Indra Kumar, Ramesh Prasad Singh and Sheo Nandan Prasad singh. President Patil felicitated these leaders with a shawl, citation and a momento. President also released a set of seven books on this occasion. These books are related to history and proceeding of the state legislative council. Besides chairman of the upper houses of UP, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir speakers of legislative assemblies of west Bengal and Orissa have also participated in the celebrations.
