President stresses on a coordinated approach towards schemes on women’s welfare

The President Mrs. Pratibha Devisingh Patil has stressed on a coordinated approach towards implementation and monitoring of programmes and schemes for the welfare of women. <br/><br/>She observed that though the Government has a number of programmes for the women, many of the benefits do not reach the women. <br/><br/>Mrs. Patil was inaugurating a seminar on Gender Justice and Empowerment of Women with special reference to Sikkim in Gangtok today. <br/><br/>The day-long seminar marks the finale of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of the High Court of Sikkim. <br/><br/>The President asserted that the gender equality is not a confrontational approach but means mutual respect and equal opportunities to all in a non-discriminatory manner. <br/><br/>AIR Gangtok correspondent reports that the High Court of Sikkim was established on 17th April 1955 which became the High Court of the State of Sikkim after this erstwhile kingdom joined the Indian Union on 16th May 1975.<br/>
