President Pranab Mukherjee has stressed the need for developing Viramshila University on the pattern of Nalanda International University. Addressing a gathering near the excavated site of Vikramshila University today, Mr Mukherjee said he would take up the matter with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in this regard. He said the Centre had already made provision of rupees 500 crore for development of the University.<br/><br/>The President said, Vikramshila University has its own history as well as glory and it must be restored.<br/><br/>Mr Mukherjee went around the main stupa at the excavated site and the museum in course of his visit.<br/><br/>After visiting Vikramshila University, the President went to Bounsi block of Banka district to visit Gurudham.<br/><br/>Gurudham, an ashram located near Mandar Hill, is also known as Shyama Charan Lahiri Peeth.
