President reaches Guangzhou on 4-day China visit to boost bilateral ties

President Pranab Mukherjee arrived at Guangzhou today on a four day visit to China. At the airport, Mr Mukherjee was received by the Vice- Governor of the Province He Zhongyou. In the evening , the President will attend a reception by the Indian community. A large number of Indian community lives in the industrial province where Mr Mukherjee had inaugurated Indian Counsel as External Affair Minister. Over 80 Guangzhou based companies have either invested or set up offices in India.<br/><br/><br/>The President is expected to exchange views on all aspects of India's ties with Chinese leadership. He is likely to raise the issue of China blocking India's bid to get a UN ban on Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar and its insistence on India signing the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) to get membership of the elite Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG). Mr. Mukherjee will also discuss the issue of terrorism with the Chinese leadership. Before embarking on his visit, the President had asked China to join hands with India in the fight against terrorism. <br/><br/>Mr Mukherjee will reach Beijing tomorrow where he will have talks with the top leaders of china including with his counterpart Xi Jinping on bilateral, regional and International issues.
