President Ram Nath Kovind has stressed on the rejuvenation of traditional water resources and prudent water management for the development of agriculture sector in the country. <br/><br/>Mr. Kovind was addressing a function after launching the Agriculture Roadmap of Bihar 2017-22 at Patna today.<br/><br/>The President said, prudent water management is need of time and recalled the role played by Ahar (???) and Payeens (???) in agrarian societies. He also stressed the proper coordination of the Centre and State governments in the area of water management for the solution of the menace of flood and droughts. <br/><br/>He hailed the past two Agriculture Roadmaps of Bihar which have contributed immensely in terms of increasing production and productivity of paddy and wheat.<br/><br/>The President said, the centenary year of the Champaran Satyagraha is being commemorated from April this year. <br/><br/>He said, this was the best time to introduce the new Agricultural Roadmap in the interests of farmers. <br/><br/>The President said, Bihar could achieve the glory of being a pioneer in the next Green Revolution of the country as it has huge potential. <br/><br/>Mr. Kovind said, abundant human resource, fertile land, water all the good factors are in favour of Bihar to become a developed state. <br/><br/>Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said, promotion of organic farming, consolidation of land (??????) , survey settlement, dedicated feeder for agriculture are salient feature of 3rd Agriculture Roadmap. <br/><br/>Mr. Kumar said, the roadmap is very important as 95 percent of farmers are small and marginal and lands are scattered in small pieces. <br/><br/>He said, vegetable production is core competence of the state and presently Bihar is number third in the country. The Chief Minister said, several measures have been taken to attain number one vegetable grower position.<br/><br/>Governor Satya Pal Malik, Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi, Agriculture Minister Prem Kumar also addressed people on the occasion.<br/><br/>Earlier this morning, the President also paid rich tributes to first President Dr Rajendra Prasad and eminent freedom fighter Jai Prakash Narayan.
