President Prathibha Devisingh Patil on Tuesday presented the newly launched President's Trophy Snake Boat race at the Ashtamudi backwaters to the winners Sri Ganesh snake boat of St. Francis boat club. In a toughly fought boat race, Sri Ganesh snake boat had won the coveted trophy and cash prize of ten lakh rupees beating Devas snake boat that bagged the second prize. AIR correspondent reports, torrential rain followed by winds just before the final did not dampen the spirit of the water sport carnival. Speaking at the inaguration of the President's trophy snake boat race at the Ashtamudi backwaters this evening President Patil urged the Centre and Kerala government to formulate a comprehensive master plan to develop Kollam as a sought after tourist destination.
