President Pranab Mukherjee will visit Janakpur in Nepal today. After arriving in the Janakpur city, he will perform puja at the well-known 'Janaki Temple' premises and will also attend a civic reception hosted in his honour at Tirhutiya Gachi. Janakpur has a famous historical and cultural significance. President Pranab Mukherjee in his visit to Nepal has said that in the context of India-Nepal relations, the socio-economic, cultural and people to people relation provide vitality and dynamism to unique, time-tested and multi-facted relationship of two countries. <br/><br/>His visit to Janaki Temple today is symbolic and has historic cultural significance in that direction. Janaki Temple in Janakpur is in Mithila region of Nepal. It is dedicated to Hindu goddess Sita. <br/><br/>According to mythology, there is a belief that during the Ramayana period, Reigning King Janak's daughter Janaki (also called as 'Sita') resided here and during her Swyambar, had choosen Lord Rama as her husband and became queen of Ayodhya. Though the temple is a common place for tourists as multitude of devotees visit the temple every year, during the auspicious occasion of Ram Navami the devotees' number increases. <br/><br/>The enthusiasm of the people to welcome Mr. Mukherjee was also palpable. He will also visit Pokhara city today.
