President Pranab Mukherjee today led the nation in offering respects to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his 26th death anniversary. Mr Mukherjee, Vice President Hamid Ansari, former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, Congress President Sonia Gandhi accompanied by party Vice-President Rahul Gandhi, daughter Priyanka Gandhi and son-in-law Robert Vadra and several other party leaders also offered respects to the former Prime Minister at his memorial Veer Bhoomi in New Delhi. <br/><br/>Rajiv Gandhi, the sixth Prime Minister of India, was assassinated on 21st May in 1991 at Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu during a poll campaign.
