UPA presidential candidate Pranab Mukhejee says, although the President holds a constitutional post, he plays a very vital role during complicated political situations. He said in Agartala today that he is going to begin a new innings after ending five decade old political career and as a senior most parliamentarian. Speaking to reporters he said that he is overwhelmed with the support from all the North-eastern states. He said that his prime objective will be to uphold the constitution of India if he is elected to the post of President.

Pranab Mukherjee tody met the MP’s and MLA’s from Tripura to garner support for his candidature for the presidential polls. He met MLAs and MPs from CPI (M) and Congress and its ally INPT.

Chief Minister of Tripura Manik Sarkar asked Pranab Mukherjee to start his official Visit from North East, when he is elected to the Post of President.

Before coming to Tripura, Pranab Mukherjee met MLAs from Congress and Naga Peoples Front in Dimapur of Nagaland.
