President Patil will be visiting Xieng Thong Temple in Laos

The President Mrs Pratibha Devisingh Patil will be visiting Xieng Thong Temple, the temple of Golden city this morning at Luang Prabang, during her fourth day of Laos visit. The President has visited National Museum and took part in the Baci (baasi) ceremony, the most respectful form of welcome in Laotian culture at the Royal Monastery at Luang Prabang which is over 400 kilometres from the Vientiane. <br/>AIR correspondent reports, President Pratibha Devisingh Patil’s visit to Luang Prabang, the ancient royal capital has gained importance as it has been displaying deep cultural bonds between India and Laos. The President’s two day visit to Luang Prabang, which is also a World Heritage Site, gained importance as she has not only visiting historical and culturally important places but also taking part in rituals like Baci ceremony in a mark of respect towards the Laotians’ sentiments at this old city. Meanwhile, Indian business community in Lao which has formed recently into Indian Chamber of Commerce is waiting eagerly for the India-Lao Business Forum, which the President is going to address tomorrow. During the meeting few agreements on trade and Investments are likely to be arrived between Indian Business majors and Lao Government. All the three chambers of Indian Business, CII, FICCI and ASSOCHAM are also taking part in the forum highlighting their keenness to invest in Laos.<br/> <br/><br/>
