President Patil highly impress by Angkor Wat temple in Cambodia

The President Pratibha Devisingh Patil was highly impressed by the splendid Angkor Wat temple in Cambodia. Stepping on to the steps of the 12th century ancient temple at Angkor, she has been moved by the magnificence of the temple. Stating that the temple holds significance for India for its historic as well as the mythological value. She said, Hinduism had its influence on the temple which was constructed with scientific procedures and methods. She called upon people especially students to come and visit the important places in both India and Cambodia to tell the world about the close cultural and emotional relations between the two countries. Stating that the huge rocks are still telling the stories through the life-like figures carved intricately, she said it is the most beautiful and best work in the world. Stressing the need to preserve the historic monument for future generations, she has appreciated the contribution of the Archaeological Survey of India in restoring Angkor Wat temple.
