After completing a 9-day successful visit to the UAE and Syria, the President Pratibha Devisingh Patil is back home. AIR correspondent reports that addressing newspersons on board the special aircraft, the President said the leadership of both the UAE and Syria have strongly endorsed India's candidature for a permanent seat on an expanded UN Security Council. She said both the friendly countries have agreed to enhance strategic partnership with India in various areas including education, science and technology, agriculture and food processing, regional security, power, phosphates and in the information technology sectors.President Pratibha Devisingh Patil said that there is a deep appreciation of India’s role in global affairs and acknowledgement of its growing importance. The President Patil said this while addressing newspersons on board. Calling her state visit a success, she said there was useful exchange of views on wide range of issues of common interests during her discussions with the political leadership of these friendly countries. President Patil observed that the visit enabled her to put across to the leadership and business communities in both countries the possibilities and opportunities of increasing New Delhi’s economic engagement. She said that there is strong interest to explore the many complementarities that exist between these economies and that of India.
