President Pranab Mukherjee offered prayers at Badrinath Shrine on the opening of the portals of the temple today. <br/><br/>The State Governor, Dr. K.K. Paul and Chief Minister, Trivendra Singh Rawat were also present on the occasion. Elaborate security arrangements were made in view of the president's visit. <br/><br/>The portals of the Badrinath shrine opened at 4:15 AM amid chanting of Vedic hymns and elaborate rituals. The portals of Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri shrines in the Garhwal Himalayas have already been thrown open for devotees.
