President Pranab Mukherjee presented the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam IGNITE Awards to the winning children of IGNITE competition at Rashtrapati Bhavan yesterday. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Mukherjee said there is a need to create an innovation eco-system in country. He said the Atal Innovation Mission is a very important initiative of the government aimed at promoting innovations and start-ups all over the country.<br/><br/> The President said the idea of unleashing the creativity of children is a valuable step in that direction. He called upon educationists, corporate and community leaders to explore ways of extending recognition to creative and innovative children and other such minds. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam IGNITE 2016 competition is a national competition of original technological ideas and innovations by children up to class 12 or those out of school up to the age of 17 years. This competition organized by National Innovation Foundation every year to promote creativity and originality among children.
