President Barack Obama's landmark India visit next week is expected to add further content to Indo-US strategic ties by strengthening engagement in fields like counter-terrorism, defence, nuclear energy and high- technology trade. Indian Ambassador to the US, Meera Shankar said in Washington, the President's visit will provide an opportunity for both sides to review the progress across the entire spectrum of the bilateral cooperation. Both the sides will also exchange views on the evolving regional and global situation including reforms in the architecture of global governance and international finance. Ms Shankar said, on the bilateral front, both the countries hope to add further content to strategic partnership by strengthening the engagement in counter-terrorism, defence, peaceful uses of nuclear energy, space, trade and economic spheres, agriculture, health and facilitation of high technology trade. Ms Shankar, who leaves for India this weekend ahead of the US President's arrival in Mumbai, said the two sides have been discussing issues related to recalibration of US export control policies and regulations vis-a-vis India keeping in view the strategic partnership between the two countries. She noted that there are a whole range of issues of global significance that the two sides are likely to discuss during the visit and how they could work together to seek solutions for the global challenges of the 21st century.
