US President Barack Obama has unveiled a new strategy for the war against the Taliban in Afghanistan. He is to send thirty thousand more American soldiers to Afghanistan and has asked for more from allied countries. The aim, he said, is to start pulling out American forces in 2011. In his long awaited speech, Mr Obama said, the extra forces will go into action fast, in the first part of next year, the fasted possible pace so that they can target the insurgency and secure key population centres. He said, they will increase the US ability to train Afghan security forces and partner with them so that more Afghans can get into the fight.<br/>
