President lays foundation stone for Link-4 of SAUNI Yojna in Gujarat

President Ramnath Kovind on Monday laid foundation stone for Link-4 of Saurashtra Narmada Irrigation Scheme- SAUNI Yojna at Jasdan in Rajkot district of Gujarat. <br/><br/>The link – 4 is a part of ambitious SAUNI project to be completed at the cost of 10 thousand crore rupees. <br/><br/>The Scheme aimed to fill up about 115 dams by the overflowing waters of Sardar Sarovar Dam on Narmada River. The entire project will benefit more than 2 lakh acres of farm land and more than 900 villages of 7 districts of Saurashtra. <br/><br/>Speaking on this occasion, the President praised the micro irrigation works carried out in Gujarat. He said, Gujarat has linked water conservation with Gram- Sabhas which is exemplary.<br/><br/>Governor of Gujarat O.P.Kohli, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel also spoke on this occasion. President Kovind has left for Delhi after completing his two day visit to Gujarat.
