President launches improved version of India's super- cheap tablet ''Aakash 2''

The President Mr Pranab Mukherjee launched the Aakash -2 , an improved version of India's super- cheap tablet computer on National Education Day in New Delhi today.

The day marks the birth anniversay of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad who was the first first education Minister of Independent India. The tablet aims at revolutionizing education across colleges and universities in the country.

Speaking on the occasion Mr Mukherjee called for quality education for all with special focus on marginalised and disadvantaged groups.

He noted that quality of education is getting due attention under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan with more emphasis on building teacher capacity, teacher training and improving district and block level capacity for better management of the school education.

Mr Mukherjee also emphasised that Technology Enabled Learning is a very important aspect of education. This must be adapated and introduced expeditiously in all educational instituions across the country.
