<span style="color: #222222;">President Ram Nath Kovind today conferred the Vayoshreshtha Samman-2019 on the eminent senior citizens and institutions in New Delhi in recognition of their services towards the cause of the elderly persons.<br />'' <br />'' Speaking on the occasion, Mr Kovind said, the elderly should get respect and regard by their family members and especially by the youth. He said, the age-old Indian tradition of respecting the elders should continue for the betterment of the society.<br />'' <br />'' The President said, the Government has taken several steps for the welfare of the elderly and the Ayushmaan Bharat scheme has benefited them.  <br />''<br />''Vayoshreshtha awards are instituted by the Social Justice and Empowerment Ministry and are presented as part of the celebration of the International Day of Older Persons on 1st October. </span>
