President Ram Nath Kovind today asked Hindi-speaking people to give more respect and space to regional languages and their speakers to make Hindi more popular across the country.<br/><br/>Addressing a function on the occasion of 'Hindi Divas' in New Delhi, the President said Hindi continued to face opposition in some parts of the country even though it became an official<br/>language many decades ago.<br/><br/>The President suggested that those who speak Hindi should greet a Tamilian with a vanakkam, a Sikh with Sat Sri Akal and a Muslim with an Adaab. He said, the adoption of other languages and cultures will help unite the people and the country.<br/><br/>He said, Hindi language can bind the whole world into one thread. He said, the work of promotion of hindi language should always continue. Mr Kovind also suggested the doctors to prescribe the names of medicines in Hindi as it will result in greater interaction between doctors and patients.<br/><br/>Home Minister Rajnath Singh, who was also present at the function organised by his ministry, said in his address that Hindi could be enriched further if its speakers also used words from other languages.<br/><br/>On the occasion, Mr Kovind launched Lila app for those who wants to learn Hindi language.<br/><br/>The President gave away the Rajbhasha awards for the Year 2016-17 on the occasion of Hindi Diwas which being celebrated today.<br/><br/>The Rajbhasha awards were instituted by the Department of Official Language to recognize the excellent contribution of Ministries, Departments and Nationalized Banks in the field of Hindi.
