President Ramnath Kovind addressed the Joint session of Karnataka legislature in Bengaluru today to mark the 60th anniversary of Vidhana Soudha, the state secretariat building. <br/><br/>Eulogising the significance of Parliamentary democracy, he noted that legislature is a place to debate, dissent and finally decide. <br/><br/>However he stressed that it is decency which makes meaningful democracy a reality. On the diamond jubilee celebration of Vidhana Soudha, the President observed that it is not just the 60th birthday of this building that we are marking, but also the diamond jubilee of the debates and discussions in the two Houses of legislative Assembly and Council. <br/><br/>Saying that a rival in an election is a political competitor, not an enemy, he highlighted the need for a competitor to become a colleague in the task of ensuring the well-being and development of a constituency of our shared society.
