President Kovind addresses 19th Convocation of Tezpur University in Assam; says universities should engage students with rural population

University communities can provide innovative solutions to local and national problems and should promote Universities Social Responsibilities (USR) like the corporate social responsibilities, said President Shri Ram Nath Kovind at Tezpur University in Sonitpur district of Assam.<br />''<br />''Delivering the 19th Convocation address at the Central University today Shri Kovind said that universities should engage students with the rural population and it is one of the key features of the Universities Social Responsibility. University can adopt some villages for helping in their overall development .<br />''<br />''The President said that the university community should provide innovative solutions to local and national problems and for this community participation and the use of local resources should be utilized.<br />''<br />''Shri Kovind informed that the North eastern states gives high propriety to organic farming and the university can play a major role in branding and marketing of the agricultural produce and the youths can play a lead role.<br />''<br />''The President also informed that with a view to make higher education more accessible, the Central government has decided to establish a digital university to provide access to students all over the country a world class education through technology with personalized learning experience. <br />''<br />''After the Convocation, the President left the historic city of Tezpur for the Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve to assess the conservation measures in and around the National Park including inauguration of an exhibition on the theme of conservation. Shri Kovind will also undertake a jeep and elephant safari. The President will leave for New Delhi tomorrow.<br />''<br />''Today, the University conferred Degrees and Diplomas to 1244 students. This includes 60 research scholars.<br />''<br />
