President Pranab Mukherjee has invited investors and entrepreneurs from New Zealand to join their Indian counterparts in the Make in India initiative of the Government. <br/><br/>Speaking at a banquet, hosted in his honour, by Governor General Sir Jerry Mateparae at Auckland last night, Mr Mukherjee said factoring the size of the economies of the two countries and the wide convergence of interests in many areas, trade and investment need to be scaled up to realise its vast potential. <br/><br/>AIR correspondent, covering the President's visit, reports that this was the first event in Auckland in which the President was addressing and he has clearly set the tone for his visit. <br/><br/>He said New Zealand has made tremendous progress in many areas such as dairy development, food processing, communications, information technology, clean energy, water, disaster management, biotechnology, healthcare and services and India would like to build partnerships in these areas.<br/><br/>Turning to Regional and global security challenges, the President said the UN system needs to be reformed so that it remains relevant and effective in addressing the challenges that confront the world today. <br/><br/>He said India stands ready to shoulder greater responsibilities in the international arena. President Mukherjee looked forward to enhanced cooperation between the two countries both in the regional and global context. <br/><br/>In a short while from now, the President will drive down to the Auckland War Memorial to lay a wreath there. He would also hold talks with Prime Minister John Key and the Leader of Opposition Andrew Little.
